Terms of Service
Last updated: 8 August 2026
These terms apply when you use Lone Tradie at lonetradie.com. By creating an account you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use the service.
1. The service
Lone Tradie is a web application for solo tradespeople to schedule jobs, keep customer records, send quotes, generate invoices, track income and expenses, and publish a simple public page for their business.
Lone Tradie is under active development. Features may change, and we may add, alter or remove them as the product evolves.
2. Your account
- You must be at least 16 years old and able to enter a contract.
- Give accurate registration details and keep your email address current so we can reach you about your account.
- Keep your password to yourself. You're responsible for what happens under your account. Tell us promptly if you think it has been compromised.
- One account is for one business. Don't share logins.
3. What it costs
New accounts get a free trial of 30 days with full access. No payment details are needed to start it. When the trial ends, your data stays safe and readable, but you can't add or change anything until you subscribe.
A subscription costs NZ$20 per month, charged monthly in advance, and renews automatically until you cancel. If you're outside New Zealand, Stripe may charge you the equivalent in your own currency at the exchange rate applying on the day, so the amount in your currency can vary between months.
You can cancel at any time from Settings. Your subscription stays active until the end of the period you have already paid for, and you are not charged again after that. We don't refund part of a period you have already paid for, except where the law requires it. If a payment fails we'll retry it for a while and email you; if it keeps failing the subscription ends and the account returns to read-only.
If we change the price we'll tell you by email before it applies to you, and you'll be free to cancel instead. Accounts created while Lone Tradie was free to use keep their free access; we said we'd give notice before that changed, and this isn't that notice.
Payments are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your full card number.
4. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use the service for anything unlawful, or to store unlawful content.
- Upload material you don't have the right to use, or content that is abusive, misleading or infringing.
- Attempt to access another account's data, probe or bypass our security controls, or disrupt the service.
- Scrape, resell or redistribute the service, or use automated tools to create accounts or place excessive load on it.
- Use the enquiry or messaging features to send spam or unsolicited marketing.
5. Your content and your customers
Everything you put into Lone Tradie stays yours. We claim no ownership of your business data. You grant us only the permission needed to run the service: to store your data, process it, back it up, and display the parts you have chosen to publish on your public page.
You are responsible for the customer information you record, including having a proper basis to hold it and handling it in line with the privacy laws that apply to you. How we handle data is set out in our Privacy Policy.
6. Your public page
If you publish a business page, its content is visible to anyone on the internet and may be indexed by search engines. You are responsible for what appears on it and for making sure it is accurate and not misleading. We may remove a page that breaches these terms.
7. Availability
We aim to keep Lone Tradie running and your data safe, but we don't promise uninterrupted or error-free service. There may be downtime for maintenance, upgrades or reasons outside our control. Keep your own records of anything you can't afford to lose β you can export your data at any time.
8. Invoices, tax and business decisions
Lone Tradie helps you produce invoices and financial summaries, but it is not accounting, tax or legal advice. You are responsible for checking that your invoices, tax rates and returns are correct for your circumstances and jurisdiction.
9. Liability
The service is provided βas isβ. To the extent the law allows, we exclude implied warranties, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, lost profits, lost business or lost data. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited β including, where you use Lone Tradie as a consumer, your rights under consumer protection law.
Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid us for the service in the twelve months before the claim, which will be nil while the service is free.
10. Ending your account
You can stop using Lone Tradie and delete your account at any time from the app. Deleting your account removes your data as described in the Privacy Policy, so export anything you want to keep first.
If you have a subscription, deleting your account cancels it at the same time, so you are not charged again.
We may suspend or close an account that breaches these terms, or where we are required to by law. If we ever discontinue the service, we will give notice and a reasonable opportunity to export your data.
11. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as the service develops. We'll update the date at the top, and for significant changes we'll notify you in the app or by email before they take effect. Continuing to use Lone Tradie after that means you accept the updated terms.
12. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of New Zealand, and the New Zealand courts have non-exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute. If you use the service as a consumer elsewhere, this does not remove protections you have under the mandatory laws of your own country.
